Ireland - The Trilogy 1/3
I live in Turku, Finland, and I most certainly I'm not done with Finland in this blog, but I thought it would be great to alternate between Finland and other countries I've visited and write about those as well. I've travelled quite a bit around the world and the last place I visited was Dublin, Ireland.
I bought the trip as a birthday present for myself (ah, I love it when you can buy yourself presents, you know exactly what you want!). The trip was scheduled from Sunday the 15th 'till thursday 19th of January (2017, duh), so I'd spent 5 days and 4 nights in Dublin. The most important part of the trip was to go and be by - my - self. I figured this would be the best way to relax and take my mind of things before starting on writing my thesis. What would be more perfect place to unwind if not in an environment that doesn't remind you about your responsibilities in anyway! My husband was a tad bit worried about me travelling alone, but I told him not to worry because I had done it several times before we even met each other. After many reassurances towards the hubby I was set on my way to Éire.
Which means Ireland. In Irish.
The flight was ok, I had a transfer flight in Copenhagen. It's funny how it always seems that the most stylish and beautiful Danish people hangout at the airport. Or maybe they all are just really attractive.
When I arrived at Dublin Airport around 4 PM local time, I was really tired and hungry and just wanted to get to the hotel as quickly as possible. I was searching for a bus, that would take me to the city centre, for 45 minutes until I gave up and took a taxi. Best decision at that point and it wasn't even that expensive.
The taxi driver was a chatty bloke. I guess they all are."Gift of the yap", they say. He was really helpful and asked what I wanted to do and explained how to navigate through the city centre.
Finally at the hotel I was so exhausted to even think about going outside or interacting with people. So suddenly I was asleep. Sadly, I woke up in the middle of the night with the most horrid fever I've ever had, my head aching like hell and my sinuses completed clogged.
What a way to start a trip....
